The Ahel Summer Internship Program

is an exceptional opportunity for university students interested in social justice, political change, human rights and civic engagement in the Arab world seeking to enrich their academic and professional journeys. This versatile program offers an immersive experience with the Ahel team, empowering interns to explore  community organizing alongside those affecting change across the Arab world.

Ahel is committed to empowering individuals and communities to lead collective action and drive meaningful progress toward justice and human rights. We work with people and partner organizations in different countries to help achieve that goal. We also teach aspiring leaders community organizing practices.

During their internship, interns will be exposed to practical, hands-on experience, contributing to Ahel’s vision and values of empowering people to harness their power and drive change.

Students from different majors (enrolled in humanities, arts, law, and political and social sciences programs) in their second year or beyond – masters students can be considered as well – re welcome to apply provided they share our passion for social justice..

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
  • Deep commitment to global justice, citizen empowerment, and social change.
  • Qualified in using technological applications and programs.
  • Passion for learning and keen attention to detail.
  • Strong team player committed to collaborative work for a common goal.

Timeframe and Duration:

The Summer 2023 program will run in two rounds, each lasting one month, during which the interns will work with the Ahel team and gain practical experience in different areas based on the candidate’s strength and interests.

Examples : support grassroots campaigns with research, coordination, art produts OR enhance the syllabus and pedagogy of Ahel’s workshops and courses, OR research comparative campaigning and social movement theories and approaches OR produce videos and designs to enhance Ahel’s reach to organizers, leaders and activists in the Arab world. 

The program rounds dates are as follows:

–  May 28 – June 27, 2023

–  July 16 – August 12, 2023

Location:

Ahel’s office located in the heart of Amman, Jordan – Al Lweibdeh Area.
